About

The biennial meetings of the International Conference on Cognitive Science have been held in Russian cities since 2004 and have aimed to organize a multidisciplinary forum for scientists exploring a wide range of problems concerning cognition. We usually receive about 1000 applications from nearly 60 countries, and after a thorough reviewing procedure, the Program Committee chooses about 400 abstracts for spoken and poster presentations.

The conference program always includes lectures by leading experts in multidisciplinary cognitive studies. Among invited speakers, prior conferences were proud to have Nobel prize winners Gerald Edelman and Daniel Kahneman, and such world leading authors as Giacomo Rizzolatti, Marc Hauser, Michael Tomasello, Mikko Sams, Anne Treisman, Stella Vosniadou, Natalya Behtereva, Norbert Bischof, Doris Bischof-Koehler, Fergus Craik, Riitta Hari, Ray Jackendoff, Kenneth Hugdahl, Ronald W. Langacker, Michael Long, Inger Moen, Yury Natochin, Nancy Nersessian, Dan Slobin, Leonard Talmy, Vladimir Zinchenko, James L. McClelland, Roger Schank and others.

The official languages of the conference are English and Russian. Free simultaneous interpretation facilities are provided. The conference includes a number of social and cultural events, such as tours around the hosting cities and universities, welcome parties etc. The organizers try to cover the accommodation expenses for participants and provide a limited number of Travel Grants for students and young scientists.

Previous conferences were held in Kazan' (2004), St. Petersburg (2006), Moscow (2008), and Tomsk (2010). The Fifth International Conference on Cognitive Science is to be held in Kaliningrad (former Königsberg) in June 19-23, 2012. The conference website is now open for registration and is accepting abstracts.
